Michael Katz joined the St. John Fisher athletics department as an assistant athletic trainer in August 2012.

Mike originally began working at Fisher as an athletic trainer in the fall of 2007, filling in on an as needed basis. He has been with the department ever since, and with the Cardinals adding multiple varsity sports in 2011 and 2012, Katz was added as a full-time assistant.

Katz earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in athletic training from the University of Buffalo in May of 1994. That summer, Katz also earned his NATA certification.

Since earning his degree, Mike has worked for multiple schools and organizations at all levels of sports. He started at McQuaid High School in the fall of 1994 before working for Lattimore Physical Therapy from 1995-97, where he covered Rush Henrietta High School.

Katz then switched to University Sports Medicine in 1998-99, then covering another local high school, this time Fairport.

He then made the move to the professional ranks, becoming the head athletic trainer for the Rochester Rhinos, a professional soccer team in the United Soccer Leagues (USL), in 1999, where he stayed in the position until 2003. Also in 1999, Katz became the head athletic trainer for the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), remaining with the team until 2009.

Currently, Katz is the head athletic trainer for the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), where he began in 2011.

Mike is a native of Schenectady and now lives in Webster with his wife Sue and children Stephen and Anya.
