Rob Phelan was hired by St. John Fisher College in August 2012 to help assist with the women’s soccer program. As the women’s soccer staff associate, Phelan heads the JV program, helps with recruiting and assists head coach Jill McCabe with the varsity team, all while earning a graduate degree.

The staff associate comes to Fisher by way of an impressive soccer resume, while also hailing from Dungarvan, Ireland. Phelan played for the University of Limerick for four years, helping his team win a national championship in 2008, playing both center and left back.

As a coach, Phelan has worked in several capacities, including the Challenger Sports British Soccer Camps from 2009-2012. He also helped coach the New York Premier Soccer club in 2011-12. While still in Ireland, Phelan helped coach three different teams at Limerick, including the head position of the junior team in 2009-10. Finally, Phelan has also helped in coaching the U13 Girls Waterford County squad.

Phelan graduated college with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education and Mathematics. He is currently pursuing his masters in Mathematics Education.

Phelan currently resides in Rochester.
