Joining St. John Fisher University as an Assistant Coach for the Women’s Basketball team, Kara Ingalls brings a blend of basketball knowledge, academic diligence, and a player-centric coaching approach to the Cardinals' coaching staff.
Kara’s basketball journey began at Webster Thomas High School and blossomed at SUNY Geneseo, where she played a pivotal role in leading the Knights to a notable 28-2 mark during the 2016-17 campaign. Her tenure at Geneseo was marked by three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, with the team advancing to the Sweet 16 in two of those years. Her contributions on the court were recognized with a SUNYAC First Team All-Star and an All-East Region Second Team pick by D3hoops.com. She was also acknowledged by the SUNYAC, nominating her for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award in 2017.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in childhood and special education from SUNY Geneseo, Kara’s academic efforts were rewarded with the 2017 SUNYAC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Dr. Myrtle Merritt Award.
Transitioning into coaching, Kara served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at SUNY Geneseo for two seasons before taking on the Head Varsity Coach role at Our Lady of Mercy. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes player development, teamwork, and fostering a competitive yet supportive environment.
Now at St. John Fisher University, Kara aims to contribute to the women's basketball program by sharing her experiences and knowledge, nurturing the athletic and academic growth of the student-athletes. Her background as a player, coach, and scholar positions her to positively impact the Cardinals' basketball program.
