Women's Volleyball Falls to No. 18 Ithaca in Home Opener

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's volleyball team fell to No. 18 Ithaca College, 3-1, in its home opener of the 2026 season on Tuesday. The Cardinals now hold an overall record of 0-1, while the Bombers improve to 1-0.

How it Happened

In the opening set, the Cardinals and Bombers traded blows, with Ithaca ultimately taking the first set, 25-23. Fisher closed the gap late in the set with a 9-4 run, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Senior outside hitter Kaylene Noble led the Cardinals with eight kills in the opening set.

In the second set, the Bombers began to take control, going on an 11-2 run to build their lead. Gabriela Gonzalez-Abreu led Ithaca with four kills in the set.

The Cardinals came out strong in the third set, taking a 25-16 victory. Sophomore outside hitter Kalyna Dannenberg powered Fishers' offense with seven kills. The Cardinals closed out the set with an 8-0 run, during which junior outside hitter Lydia Fraser recorded two kills. 

The Bombers secured the match victory in the fourth set, winning 25-19. Midway through the final set, Ithaca used a 7-1 run to regain control, with Naomi Clauhs recording two kills during the stretch. Clauhs finished the set with six kills to help the Bombers secure the victory.

  • Junior setter Zofia Keogh recorded a career-high 26 assists.
