By Mike Hogan, Athletics Communications Coordinator

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Trisha Byler has been named St. John Fisher University’s head men’s and women’s cross country coach, Geoffrey Grambo, Fisher’s track & field and cross country program director, announced on Thursday. Byler will also serve as an assistant coach (distance runners) for the Cardinals’ men’s and women’s track and field teams.

“I am thrilled to join the St. John Fisher community as the head cross country and distance coach,” Byler said. “I am passionate about creating a team culture where athletes feel challenged to grow, supported through every step of their journey and empowered to discover what they are truly capable of achieving.”

Byler adds an abundance of experience and success as a competitive runner and coach to the Cardinals’ cross country and track & field programs.

Inducted into the Rochester Runner of the Year Hall of Fame in 2024, Byler has competed in the USATF National Club Cross Country Championship three times and in the USATF National Club Track and Field Championships twice in distance events. Byler, who continues to achieve personal bests across multiple distances, has won two USATF Niagara Series titles, four Rochester Runner of the Year Series titles and nine JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge (3.5 miles) titles.

Byler competed collegiately for the Rocheter Institute of Technology’s women’s cross country and track and field teams. She twice qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.

As a coach, Byler has developed athletes and teams at multiple levels. She helped establish the Brockport Distance Project, guided Roadkill Racing to multiple USATF Niagara Club Series championships and helped lead multiple corporate running teams to sustained championship success.

“We are thrilled to announce that coach Byler will be joining our staff this fall as the new head cross country and distance coach," Grambo said. "Coach Byler has a passion for developing athletes and will bring valuable experience, energy and leadership to our cross country and track & field programs. I am excited to see how she will continue to build the program and help athletes reach their potential on and off the course and track.”

Byler earned her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from RIT in 2007. She later obtained her Master of Science from RIT in applied statistics.
