PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has hired Harris Williams as its assistant strength and conditioning coach.
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Williams has experience training athletes at multiple levels. He will work with various St. John Fisher athletic programs, including the football team.
“I'm excited and humbled to join the St. John Fisher community as an assistant strength and conditioning coach,” Williams said. “I'm looking forward to making a positive impact on our student-athletes both in the weight room and beyond."
Williams joins the St. John Fisher strength and conditioning staff, led by Connor McJury, after spending two years as the director of strength and conditioning at Vertus High School in Rochester. He doubled as an athletics administrative assistant and assistant varsity football coach during his time at the school.
Williams has also recently worked with Rochester’s City Rocks AAU basketball team as an athletic performance coach.
Originally from Suwanee, Georgia, Williams, a former linebacker, played collegiate football at Mercyhurst University for five seasons. He earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science in 2021 and obtained his Master of Science in organizational leadership and development in 2023. Williams began his collegiate strength and conditioning coaching career as an undergraduate intern working with Mercyhurst’s softball, women’s ice hockey and rowing programs. He earned a postgraduate internship in November 2021 at NCAA Division I Georgia Tech, where he assisted the athletic performance efforts for the Yellow Jackets’ football program and Olympic sports.
Following his internship at Georgia Tech, Williams spent a year in the Atlanta area as an exercise specialist at ATI Physical Therapy and as the director of sports performance at Forerunners Sports Performance. He primarily worked with collegiate athletes while leading the Forerunners program.
“I'm extremely fortunate and excited to be able to welcome Harris to the Fisher strength and conditioning staff,” McJury said. “His knowledge, experience and attitude will be a phenomenal asset for our student-athletes, and I look forward to continuing to build the program.”
