About The 2026 Cardinals 


Season In Review: The Cardinals finished 2-11 overall and 2-6 in Empire 8 Conference competition last season. Both of their victories came against Alfred. 

Tyler Hernandez earned All-E8 first-team honors in singles. Hernandez also earned second-team doubles recognition with his partner, Will Chubb. Sean Brown and Trentyn Grant also garnered All-E8 second-team doubles honors.

About Head Coach Jason Bryam 


Jason Byam, inducted into the St. John Fisher Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017, became head coach of the Cardinals' men's and women's tennis programs in August 2025.

Byam graduated from Fisher in 2006 and played under longtime tennis coach Linda Gohagan. He recorded the most wins (81) by a men’s tennis player in school history and earned All-Empire 8 honors six times in singles and doubles during his collegiate career.

Byam previously served as the head tennis professional at the nearby Mendon Racquet Club, where he coached youth, high school and collegiate tennis players. He has continued playing competitively since graduating, winning three Rochester District championships in doubles.

Players To Watch


Tyler Hernandez, Jr. – The 2024 Empire 8 Player and Rookie of the Year, Hernandez led the Cardinals with seven singles victories and contributed to two doubles victories last season. He earned first-team All-E8 honors in singles and second-team All-E8 honors in doubles. 

Will Chubb, Sr. – A two-time All-Empire 8 honoree, once apiece in singles and doubles, Chubb posted three singles wins and a pair of doubles wins last season. He earned second-team All-Empire 8 honors in doubles action. Chubb has been part of 12 victories in doubles action over the last three years.

Sean Brown, Sr. – Brown won three singles matches and led the team with six doubles wins alongside his partner, Trentyn Grant, last season. He earned second-team All-E8 honors in doubles. 

Trentyn Grant, Jr. – Grant teamed up with Brown for six doubles wins last season, the most on the team, en route to claiming second-team All-E8 honors. He also won a pair of singles matches.
