Fisher struck first less than two minutes into the game. At 1:48 of the opening period, Erin Lantry set up freshman Josie Palumbo, who scored her first collegiate goal to give the Cardinals a 1–0 lead. William Smith tied the game later in the period at 12:18 when Bella Hacker converted at even strength, sending the teams into the first intermission tied 1–1.

Women's Hockey's Inaugural Season Ends With Double-Overtime Loss To Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, C.T. – The St. John Fisher women's ice hockey team closed out its inaugural season with a 3-2 double-overtime loss to Albertus Magnus College in the first round of the United Collegiate Hockey (UCHC) Tournament on Wednesday evening at Ralph Walker Arena. The Cardinals finished the season with a 12-13-1 overall record. 

How it Happened

The No. 5-seeded Cardinals opened the scoring 12 minutes into the first period as Cameran Evans and Cordelia Wemyss set up Keira Reckley, who found the back of the net. The No. 4-seeded Falcons answered just over a minute later when Kurtia Yetman scored to even the game.

With four minutes remaining in the opening period, the Cardinals regained the lead as Reckley fed Ellie Prantner, who buried the shot. Albertus Magnus tied it again just under five minutes into the second period on a goal by Briony Retasket.

The third period remained scoreless as both defenses held firm, sending the game to overtime. After 20 minutes of extra play, the teams remained deadlocked at 2-2.

Albertus Magnus secured the win just under two minutes into double overtime when Kalyna Reynolds scored the game-winner.

Game Notes

  • Reckley recorded a goal and an assist in each of the final three games of the season and finished as Fisher's leader in total points (22) and goals (13). 

  • Prantner tallied a goal in each of the final three contests and finished third on the team with seven.

  • Goaltender Brynn Bacak made 38 saves, marking her fifth game this season with 38 or more saves.
