PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Three St. John Fisher women's basketball players scored in double figures as the Cardinals cruised to a 20-point win, 76-56, over Keuka College on Friday night at Manning & Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals improved to 6-8 overall (3-2 Empire 8 Conference) with the victory, their second in a row after a 1-2 start to conference play. Keuka dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Senior guard Presleigh Brunner led the Cardinals with 16 points and eight rebounds, and fellow senior guard Hannah Ferguson had 15 points with six rebounds. Sophomore guard Valerosa Gambitta chipped in with 13 points.
How It Happened
Ferguson knocked down a pair of triples during the Cardinals' game-opening, 11-1 run. Junior forward Danielle Seamon also connected from beyond the arc in that stretch, while Brunner knocked down a mid-range jumper.
The Cardinals led by 14, 25-11, at the end of the first frame, and continued running away from the Wolves in the second quarter. Brunner, Gambitta and junior forward Alexa Gibson all scored four points in the quarter as Fisher led by as many as 19 twice and by 17 at halftime.
Fisher led by 18 to 20 points for almost the entire third quarter, during which they shot 50% (8-of-16) overall. Brunner scored six points, Ferguson had five and Gambitta and Gibson each contributed four apiece.
The Cardinals' lead swelled to a game-high 24 points on multiple occasions in the fourth quarter. Gambitta and senior guard Julia Perales scored three points apiece as Fisher put the finishing touches on its dominant E8 victory.
