Geneseo Downs Men's Ice Hockey With Big Third Period

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo (7-3-1, 4-1-0 United Collegiate Hockey Conference) rattled off eight unanswered goals to down the St. John Fisher men's ice hockey team (7-4-0, 2-3-0 UCHC) 8-2 on Friday night at Ira S. Wilson Arena. 

How It Happened 

Junior forward Brendan Merriman and freshman forward Jonathan Sonedecker scored in the opening period to give Fisher a 2-0 lead, but the Knights erased their deficit quickly with three goals in the second frame. 

Filip Wiberg lit the lamp on the power play just 42 seconds into the period, and Jackson Stimple tied the score just over five minutes in. Ryan Forberg gave the Knights the lead about two minutes later. 

The Knights, who had eight different goal scorers in the game, added five more tallies to their lead in the final period. Alex Dameski finished with a team-high four points on a goal and three assists. 

St. John Fisher senior goalkeeper Sebastian Woods made a game-high 28 saves, with 14 coming in the second period. 

Geneseo finished 3-of-5 on power-play opportunities.
