How They Got Here

St. John Fisher: The Cardinals (29-1) had the top seed for the Empire 8 Tournament and swept No. 8 Alfred, No. 4 Geneseo and No. 2 Hartwick to capture their sixth conference title and second in a row.

The Cardinals lost their first match of the regular season in four sets to nationally ranked Ithaca and haven't lost since, as they've ripped off 29 victories in a row with 24 sweeps. They went undefeated (11-0) in conference regular-season play for the sixth time in program history to secure home-court advantage for the E8 Tournament.

Wentworth: Wentworth (23-4) swept Gordon and Endicott on the way to its second Conference of New England title in the last three years. The Leopards have won 12 consecutive matches since losing in five sets to Endicott in five sets on Sept. 30.

With A Win…

St. John Fisher would… record its first NCAA Tournament victory since 1997… record its first NCAA Tournament win under head coach Kelly Greapentrog… snap a six-game losing streak in the NCAA Tournament… win its 30th match in a row… reach 30 wins for the first time since 1993… improve to 39-2 in its last 41 matches.

Fisher Cracks AVCA Poll For The First Time Ever

Fisher has earned a spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association/Taraflex Division III Top-25 poll for the first time in program history. The Cardinals, who had been receiving votes since September, cracked this week's poll at No. 24.

AVCA Announces All-Region III Honors

Fisher claimed two of the three major American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III All-Region III awards for the 2025 season.

The AVCA named freshman outside hitter Kalyna Dannenberg Region III Rookie of the Year and head coach Kelly Greapentrog Region III Coach of the Year.

The Cardinals had five total players earn All-Region honors, with Dannenberg, junior outside hitter Kaylene Noble and senior setter Reilly Morrow earning first-team spots. Senior libero Kiera Hartpence and junior middle blocker Ana Gutman garnered honorable mention honors.

  • Dannenberg is the first player in Fisher history to win an AVCA major award.
  • Greapentrog is the first coach in program history to be named AVCA Region III Coach of the Year.
  • Noble has earned AVCA All-Region honors three times, twice as a first-team selection.
  • Hartpence has earned All-Region honors twice, both times as an Honorable Mention.
  • Gutman has been named an All-Region performer three years in a row.
  • This marks Morrow's first time earning All-Region honors.

Empire 8 Announces Awards, All-Conference Teams

The Cardinals swept all four Empire 8 major awards and had a conference-high six players garner All-E8 honors for the 2025 season, the league office announced last Wednesday Wednesday.

The E8 named Morrow Player of the Year, Hartpence Defensive Player of the Year and Dannenberg Rookie of the Year. The Cardinals' coaching staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Morrow, Hartpence, Dannenberg and Noble earned first-team All-Empire 8 recognition. Gutman and sophomore outside hitter Lydia Fraser landed second-team honors.

Senior outside hitter Erika Edholm was selected as St. John Fisher's representative on the conference's "Tomorrow's Leaders Team." The Tomorrow's Leaders Team recognizes a student-athlete from each E8 team who has demonstrated leadership in competition, in the classroom and in their community.

  • Morrow is the first setter and the fourth different player in Fisher history to be named E8 Player of the Year.
  • Dannenberg is the 10th player in program history to earn E8 Rookie of the Year honors. The Cardinals have had the conference's Rookie of the Year in each of the last three seasons.

  • Greapentrog has led five E8 Coaching Staffs of the Year.
