PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's basketball team dominated a second straight Empire 8 Conference opponent on Friday night, cruising to an 81-37 victory over SUNY Poly in its first game at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym since Nov. 17.
The Cardinals won their second game in a row and improved to 7-4 overall (2-0 Empire 8) with the 44-point victory. It marked their eighth victory by 40 points or more over a conference opponent since the beginning of last season.
How It Happened

After a slow start, the Cardinals went on a 17–5 run that lasted nearly six minutes to end the first quarter with a 24-12 lead. They outscored Poly 24-7 in the second quarter and took a 29-point lead (48-19) into halftime.

Senior guard Sidney Tomasso had a double-double in the first half, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Cardinals' lead reached 40-plus points early in the second half, as they outscored Poly 15-3 in the first four minutes. They led by a game-high 49 points in the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals scored 80 or more points for the third time this season. They set season highs in steals (18) and forced turnovers (26).

Tomasso recorded her third double-double of the season and the seventh of her collegiate career. The reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year finished with 24 points while shooting 7 of 14 overall (2 of 5 from three) and 8 of 8 from the foul line. She grabbed 10 rebounds, all of them in the first half.

Tomasso has scored 20 or more points in five of the Cardinals' 11 games this season. One of the Empire 8's leading scorers so far this season, she is averaging a career-high 20.9 points through 10 games.

Junior guard Presleigh Brunner scored 11 points while shooting 5 of 9 overall and 1 of 2 from three.

Senior guard Katie Moravec recorded a season-high six steals, scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds.

Moravec leads Fisher with 21 steals and has had four or more in three games this season.

Sophomore forward Danielle Seamon added a career-high six points off the bench.

Freshman Valerosa Gambitta scored a season-high five points while shooting 2 of 2 from the field (1 of 1 from three). Fellow freshman Tanleigh Bestine also had five points off the bench.
