PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team is adding a new Assistant Coach to their staff as they look to build on a season where they won the Empire 8 Championship and their first-round matchup in the NCAA Tournament. Head Coach, Mike Grosodonia, and the Cardinals Athletic Department, welcome's Joe Long to the staff.
"We are excited to add Coach Long to our staff. He brings a wealth of experience to our program and will have a major role in recruiting," said coach Grosodonia. "Coach Long has a great connection with student-athletes; we are fortunate to bring someone on with his type of knowledge, work ethic, and experience."
Long brings a solid foundation of experience to the team, having served as an Assistant Coach and Head JV Coach at Medaille University and a Graduate Assistant at Florida State University. When Long was with the Mavericks, he assists in creating scouting reports and gameplans, while coordinating basketball camps and fundraisers. He worked with recruiting efforts to bring in new talent, but also provided one-on-one sessions with current athletes to aide in skill development.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an esteemed program," said Long. "I look forward to working alongside this great coaching staff and creating memories with the guys. I am excited to get this journey started and be a part of something special!" He added.
Long earned his Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies at West Virginia University where he was also a Student Manager on the basketball team. He was then awarded his Master of Mass Media Communication at Florida State University.
