UTICA N.Y. – Coming off two wins in day one of the SUNY Poly Wildcat Invitational, the St. John Fisher College men's volleyball team, who are ranked 11
th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll, finished off the tournament defeating both Wells College and SUNY Poly on Saturday inside Wildcat Field House. With the wins, Fisher moves to 7-0, and sweep the tournament on the road.

After the Cardinals claimed the first set 25-21, they continued their momentum in the second set as they produced a 9-4 run behind kills by
Matt Cieplicki and
Graham Brodsky to give Fisher a 19-12 lead.
With a seven-point advantage, the Express clawed back to make it a 22-18 game, but it was not enough as
Gavin Newman closed out the set with one of his four aces in the game, allowing Fisher to claim the set 25-18.
Down two sets, the Express would start the third set on a 5-0 run hoping to make a comeback.
As one of the most experienced squads, head coach
Stephen England's squad found their rhythm behind kills by
Cyrus Felton and Cieplicki giving Fisher an 18-16 lead.
With the tide shifting, the Cardinals were able to close out the set 25-23 behind another Cieplicki kill giving Fisher its fifth 3-0 victory this season.
Overall, Cieplicki led the way with 14 kills followed by
Matt Beiter with seven and Felton with five. Newman finished with four aces as well as 33 assists on the day. Felton notched five digs followed by Cieplicki and Brodsky with three each.

Coming off a three-set victory, the Cardinals faced off against the host Wildcats with fresh legs.
Jake Baker and Newman set the pace for the Cardinals from the service line as they each produced two aces, allowing Fisher to jump ahead 17-5.
From there, kills by
Josh Bigford and
Paul Hackford allowed the Cardinals to take the first set 25-13.
After claiming set one, the Wildcats bounced back quickly taking a 9-6 lead. The Cardinals immediately found their footing as they coordinated a 17-2 run, giving the road team a 23-11 lead.
After a kill by Baker, the Cardinals closed out the second set 25-14.
Keeping the pace, the nationally-ranked team was able to take the third set 25-12, and defeat the Wildcats behind three service aces from the All-American Bigford.
As a team, Fisher recorded a new program record 17 aces, as Newman led the way with six, followed by Bigford with four and Beiter with three.
Baker finished with a team-high nine kills, as Hackford produced eight and Bigford with six.
Evan Ingerick tallied 23 assists and
David Cerqua and Ingerick both finished with seven digs each.
The Cardinals return to play next Saturday on the road in Erie PA, as they will take on nationally-ranked Juniata College at 1 p.m. and Penn State Behrend at 3 p.m.
