CLEVELAND, Ohio – The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team is still in search of its first win of the season after the Cardinals were upended by Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, 75-51, in the consolation game of the Bill Sudeck Tournament inside Horsburgh Gym.  With the defeat, Fisher, which is receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com national poll, slipped to 0-2 while the Spartans improved to 1-1 on the year.
The Cardinals were forced to play from behind throughout much of the opening half as Case Western Reserve opened up a double-digit lead with a 7-0 run and just over four minutes to play before the break.
Trailing 30-17, Fisher scored six of the game's next eight points to pull to within nine and fought off a late surge by the Spartans to head into the locker room facing a 37-28 climb.
As the second half got underway, Case Western Reserve drained back-to-back shots from behind the arc to push their lead to 15 points. 
With the half winding down, the Cardinals continued to struggle from the floor while the Spartans' lead grew to as many as 28 late in the period.
Sean Williams led the way for Fisher with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go along with five assists and a pair of steals.  
Brendan Trapper chipped in with nine points and three rebounds while 
Ian Duncan and 
Daniel Cook each finished with nine points in all. 
As a team, Fisher was 21-for-59 (.356) from the field and just 7-for-17 from the charity stripe. 
The Cardinals will look to change course at 4 p.m. on Saturday when they welcome Fredonia College to Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium and Bobby Wanzer Court for the team's home opener.
