PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team ran its winning streak to five games on Tuesday as the Cardinals handed visiting Hobart College a 74-61 defeat in a non-conference tilt inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court. With the win, Fisher improved to 5-2 on the year while the Statesmen slipped below .500 and closed out the night at 3-4.
Brendan Trapper led all scorers with a season-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting while
Matt Lettko exploded for a career-high 18 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals off the bench.
Daniel Cook, who was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week earlier in the day, finished with 11 points and two boards overall while

Holding a five-point advantage to begin the second half, Fisher added to its lead just 37 seconds in after Lettko kicked it out to
Ryan Gentile who buried a corner 3-pointer to make it 42-34.
As the period ticked away, both teams traded baskets down the stretch with Fisher eventually building a nine-point edge with under 10 minutes to play only to see the Statesmen battle back with timely shooting to cut the deficit to one following three consecutive makes from downtown.
With momentum beginning to slip away, Fisher regained its footing when Lettko buried a 3-pointer of his own to spark a 15-2 run as the Cardinals went 5-of-7 from the floor over a five-minute stretch to open up a 71-57 lead with 1:52 still showing on the clock.
Facing a double-digit deficit, Hobart would pull to within 10, but an old-fashioned three-point play by Lettko closed the door on the comeback bid with Fisher posting its fourth double-digit win in its last five games.
Overall, the Cardinals were 29-of-57 (.509) from the field and scored 32 points in the paint. Head coach
