AMHERST, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's volleyball team beat Division II-Daemen College at the Wildcats' Lumsden Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. It marks Fisher's eighth-straight victory as it record improves to 8-1 on the year while Daemen falls to 2-4.

Paul Hackford posted a season-high 45 assists while
Martin Hackford had another solid day with 10 kills and a game-high five aces.
Fisher got off to a sluggish start to begin the match but found its stride on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 11-9. Three-straight aces from
Martin Hackford made it a one-point game at 19-18.
Paul Hackford set up Bigford for a kill to tie the set at 24-all, however, the Wildcats scored the next two points to grab the opening set.
The Cardinals were in control for most of the second stanza as they reeled off four points in a row to go up 12-8. Daemen momentarily took the advantage at 23-22, but a combination of
Martin Hackford and Bigford earning kills swung the momentum in Fisher's favor.
Ivan Lopez had a monster solo block to win the set and settle the match at one set a piece.
After dropping the opening point of the third set, the Cardinals soared back into the lead and retained it the rest of the way. Five-straight points put Fisher in the driver's seat up 14-8 and then
Eric Bentivegna hammered one home for the set point.
The Wildcats took an 8-6 edge in the fourth frame but the Fisher turned it around to snatch the advantage and would never give up it as four separate 3-0 runs gave Fisher a commanding lead. The Hackford brothers worked together with Paul setting up Martin for the match-winning point.
As a team, the Cardinals hit .290 for the match while recording a .423 hitting percentage in the second set. Fisher had 10 aces to Daemen's three.
Matt Beiter earned the first double-double of the freshman's career with 10 kills and a career-high 10 digs.
