PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Picture this: there's a crisp breeze in the air. The ground is littered with multi-colored leaves freshly shed by nearby trees. The stadium is humming with an anxious anticipation as thousands of fans have gathered to witness one of Division III's best rivalries. Huge towering lights illuminate a turf field that will soon transform from tranquil to tumultuous. The public address announcer switches on his microphone as the stadium speakers begin to buzz. The captains are announced, the teams are introduced and the short walk to midfield begins. The coin is flipped, choices are made, and the referee's whistle pierces the night air signifying the start of the annual Courage Bowl.  Can you see it?

Saturday night would have been the 26th overall meeting between the St. John Fisher College football team and its crosstown foe, The College at Brockport.  There is no doubt that Courage Bowl XVI would have gone down as one of the most memorable games of the 2020 season had it happened.

The game, which routinely draws one of the largest crowds in Division III, may not be taking place, but there's still a battle being waged – one that you can help fight. The Courage Bowl is one of the largest fundraisers for Camp Good Days and Special Times – a not-for-profit organization that provides thousands of children with cancer the opportunity to come together in a residential camping experience to be with the only ones who could truly understand what they were going through – other children with cancer.

Since its founding by former Fisher assistant coach Gary Mervis, Camp Good Days has impacted more than 50,000 campers from 22 states and 36 countries.  With a small group of paid employees, Camp Good Days is a volunteer-based organization.  To avoid placing any additional financial burden on the families served, all of the programs are offered free of charge for the participants.

Despite the Courage Bowl having been cancelled, there are still several ways to support Camp Good Days and its critical mission. To learn more about how you can join the cause, volunteer, or donate, please CLICK HERE.

St. John Fisher College has partnered with Camp Good Days and Special Times for nearly 40 years. In February, the College will host the 38th annual Teddi Dance for Love.  Started in 1982 in memory of Teddi Mervis, the Teddi Dance for Love is a 24-hour dance marathon that benefits Camp Good Days and Special Times, an organization for children and their families dealing with cancer and other life challenges. Students from St. John Fisher College have been hosting the Teddi Dance every year since its founding.

Since its inception, the Teddi Dance for Love marathon has raised over one million dollars to help fight childhood cancer.
