LA PLUME, Pa. – The St. John Fisher College baseball team closed out its 2019 regular season on the road as the Cardinals fell to Keystone College, 17-8, in a non-conference tilt at Mathewson Field. With the loss, Fisher slipped to 27-12 on the season while the Giants moved to 23-13 overall.
In all, Fisher used eight arms in the bout beginning with
Allen Murphy as the junior went 1.2 innings and allowed five runs (four earned) with two strikeouts.
Spencer Weyand pitched a third of an inning before being lifted for
Jack Delaney who was tagged for three runs over 1.1 innings.
Jared Wren took the mound and pitched two outs before being hit for four runs.
Dillan Wilkinson surrendered two runs over 1.1 innings while
Kyle Chambers notched two outs out of the pen.
Harrison Brown was called upon in the seventh and threw a perfect frame with three Ks and

At the plate, junior

Ryan Simmons had two hits in three at-bats along with a double and an RBI.
Stephen Edgett had two hits in the loss including a home run and three RBI while
Antony Mantova was 2-for-4 on the afternoon.
The Cardinals were playing from behind early after the Giants put up two runs in the bottom of the first on one hit and an error.
The home team's lead didn't last though, as Fisher plated four runs on five hits in the top of the second to open up a two-run edge. Mantova singled up the middle before moving to third base when Simmons lifted a double to right.
Michael Beimel stepped in with two aboard and drove in both runners with a double to right before Graham followed suit with an RBI-double of his own. With three runs already in,
Thomas Pasquale picked up an RBI after driving in Graham with a single to center before the Giants could retire the side.
The advantage changed hands again in the home half of the inning as Keystone plated three runs of its own to retake the lead, 5-4. From there, the Giants would score a run in the third inning and four more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-4 lead.
Fisher chipped away with a run in the fifth, but Keystone tacked on two more in the next half inning. As the game wore on, the Cardinals were never able to string together a long inning as the Giants picked up the non-conference decision.
Fisher will enjoy a few days off before returning to the diamond at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday when they travel to Ithaca to take on the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks in the opening game of the Empire 8 Championship at Freeman Field.
