PITTSFORD, N.Y. – RJ Kuruts pitched six scoreless innings and Tim Geissel nailed down his fifth save of the season as the St. John Fisher College baseball team completed the three-game sweep of SUNY Canton on Saturday behind a 4-0 decision at Dugan Yard.  With the win, Fisher, which is receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com national poll, improved to 22-10 on the season and 8-4 in the Empire 8 while the Roos slipped to 5-26 overall and 1-12 in the Empire 8 standings.

Kuruts moved to 3-2 with the win after the sophomore scattered just six hits on the day.  He fanned seven overall before giving way to Brandon Roberts who threw 1.2 scoreless frames.  Geissel was called on for the final four outs as the sophomore finished the game with two strikeouts to his credit.

After swapping zeroes over the first two innings of play, Fisher got on the board in the bottom of the third with two runs on four hits.  Ryan Brown led off with a triple to right center and would score when Stephen Edgett grounded out to the middle infield to make it 1-0.  As the inning continued, Justin Graham and Jack Kelleher notched back-to-back singles before Thomas Pasquale lifted a sacrifice fly to right to drive in a run and give the Cardinals a two-run edge.

The lead would grow to four in the home half of the fourth as Edgett collected two more RBI with a double over the center fielder's head to score Brown and Michael Beimel.

Overall, Fisher accounted for 10 hits on the day with Allen Murphy going 3-for-4 with a triple.  Ryan Simmons was 2-for-4 on the day while Brown came up with two hits in four at-bats with a triple and two runs scored. 

The Cardinals will enjoy a few days off before returning to action at 6 p.m. on Wednesday when they travel to Elmira to take on the Soaring Eagles in an Empire 8 bout.
