Bollin's Four Goals Leads No. 23 Women's Lacrosse Past Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The no. 23 ranked St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team took the field for the first time in 10 days on Saturday afternoon as it traveled to Oneonta for a non-conference battle. The Cardinals improved their record to 2-1 overall on the young season with a 16-11 victory over the Red Dragons, as they fell to 3-1-1 overall.

Claire Bollin got the scoring started for Fisher quickly as the senior tallied her second goal of the season, unassisted just 23 short seconds into the first half.  Oneonta was quick to answer however, but the Cardinals did not let the 1-1 tie last for long. The Cardinals were able to score three goals in just a two and a half minute span to jump ahead 4-1. Mackenzie LeVan started the scoring run with her fifth of the season from Bollin. Reining Empire 8 Player of the week Kelsie Schindler scored sixth of the season with Bollin picking up her second consecutive assist. Bollin then tallied her second of the game only 13 seconds after Schindler's goal.

Oneonta drew within two goals at the 10:17 mark of the first half, however the scoring continued for Fisher as Mary Grace Doyle put away her sixth of the year. Morgan Young then followed by putting one past the Red Dragons goalkeeper for her third of the season, while Bollin picked up her third assist of the first half.

Again the Red Dragons pulled back within two at 6-4, until the 26:43 mark when Bollin finished her first half hat-trick off of a feed from Schindler. The senior wasn't satisfied however, Bollin notched her fourth of the first half off of a Hayley Maguire assist to put Fisher ahead 8-4 heading into the halftime break.

After the halftime break, the Cardinals struck first as Young scored her second of the game to increase the fisher lead to 9-4. Both sides traded goals back and forth for the next eight minutes of play, with Maria Hristodoulou and Mallory Eymer picking up the Fisher tallies that gave Fisher an 11-7 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the game.

At the 17:32 mark, LeVan put away her second of the game to give the Cardinals their second five goal lead of the game at 12-7. After Red Dragon goal to cut the lead again to five, Eymer picked up her second goal of the game and fifth of the season.

Oneonta climbed back within four with three goals within three minutes of each other late in the second half, however two more Fisher goals from Allison Rupp and Schindler sealed the victory for the Cardinals.

Goalkeeper Molly Maguire was credited with her third victory of the season after making five saves in 30 minutes of game time, while Morgan Hayes also played 30 minutes in between the pipes and made three saves. Fisher was able to outshoot Oneonta 30-19 in the game, while also having the advantage in the draw controls category 20-8.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday as the team hosts SUNY Cortland scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at Growney Stadium for another non-conference matchup.
