SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's basketball was unable to hold on to a fourth quarter lead as the Cardinals were tripped up at Union College, 56-52, on Saturday night in a non-conference tilt inside the Viniar Athletic Center. With the loss, Fisher fell to 3-2 on the season while the Dutchwomen improved to 1-1.
Both teams had it going early as the game featured five lead changes in the second quarter alone. Union held a three-point advantage with 59 seconds remaining in the opening half, but the Cardinals countered with seven of the quarter's final nine points to take a 30-28 advantage into the halftime break.

Sydney Masna for a quick lay-up to make it 36-29 with nearly six minutes still showing. Both squads continued to swap baskets down the stretch as Fisher carried a six-point cushion into the final frame.
The Cardinals would pad their advantage just 90 seconds in to the final quarter as
Elle Lazore buried a 3-pointer to stake the visitors to a nine-point edge, but Union would score the game's next 13 points in a span of nearly six minutes to turn a three-possession deficit in to a five-point lead, 55-50, with just 17 seconds left to play.
In all, nine different players scored in the loss led by Masna who finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
Leah Koonmen added nine points, five boards and two steals in 38 minutes while Hulbert chipped in with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
As a team, the Cardinals had 12 assists on 22 field goals and connected on 5-of-9 from downtown. Fisher controlled the glass and out-rebounded Union, 39-34, overall.
The Cardinals will look to get back on track at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they travel to Keuka to take on the Wolves in another non-conference bout.
