The Cardinals were all over the Bengals to begin the game as Fisher forced eight turnovers in the first six minutes of play to pull ahead, 15-4. As the opening half wore on, Fisher's lead would grow to 14 after
Sean Williams found Henderson on the block to make it 27-13. From there, Buffalo State fought its way back with a 12-2 run to make it a two-possession game, but the Cardinals responded with 10 of the game's next 12 points to push their cushion back to 12.
Trailing by double digits and time working against it, Buffalo State began to force the issue and held Fisher to just two points over the final 1:17 to head into halftime facing a five-point deficit, 44-39.
The Bengals carried their momentum into the second half as the visitors cut it to three points and remained within striking distance until a 7-0 run staked them to their first lead of the game with just under nine minutes left to play.
The Cardinals tied the game up on their next possession when Williams lifted an alley-oop to Henderson who flushed it home and drew a foul to cap the old-fashioned 3-point play. Fisher would tie the game four more times over the next six minutes before Buffalo State built a seven-point lead with an 8-1 run to make it 85-78. Head coach Mike Grosodonia's squad continued to battle down the stretch and pulled to within three points, but was unable to close the gap as the Bengals knocked down four free throws in the final seconds to come out on top.
As a team, Fisher was 32-of-60 (.533) from the field and buried 19-of-24 shots from the charity stripe. The Cardinals forced the Bengals in to 23 turnovers, but gave the ball away 24 times themselves. Fisher distributed the ball well and finished with 19 assists overall.
The Cardinals will look to begin a new winning streak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they continue their eight-game home stand against Hobart College inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium.
