KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team continued to roll as the No. 2 cardinals picked up two more wins in Florida after shutting down Meredith College and Thiel College on Tuesday in the Citrus Games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. With the wins, Fisher remained unbeaten on the season and is now 6-0.
FISHER 7, MEREDITH 0
Lindsey Thayer was nearly perfect in the circle for Fisher as the junior pitcher threw a complete game shutout for her third win of the season (3-0). Thayer scattered just two hits and struck out 16 in the win.Â
As a team, Fisher scored seven runs on eight hits with four players picking up an RBI.

Julia Sortisio and
Katie Mazierski led off the home half of the frame with single before
Genevieve Paeglow walked to load the bases with just one out. After Meredith notched a strikeout and looked poised to escape the jam, a costly infield error allowed
Alexa Montemayor to reach with Sortisio scoring the game's first run. As the inning continued,
Danielle Ventrone walked with the bases chucked to plate Mazierski before Paeglow advanced home on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 in Fisher's favor.
The Cardinals struck again with two more runs in the bottom of the second inning with Mazierski and Paeglow each collecting an RBI-single to give Fisher a five-run lead before Meredith could escape the inning without any further damage.Â
Thayer held the Avenging Angels at bay in the top of third as she struck out the side while Fisher continued to see the ball well in the bottom half of the frame with two more runs as Soritisio was credited with her second RBI of the game.
FISHER 9, THIEL 1 (Five Innings)
After Sortisio struck out to start the game, Mazierski stepped in the box and ripped a triple to left-center. Batting third in the order,
Ashley Prince took the second pitch she saw over the center field fence to give Fisher an early 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals plated a run in both the second and third innings to take a four-run lead with Mazierski and Ventrone each driving in a run.
After two quick outs in the top of the fourth, Fisher made it a 5-0 game as Mazierski dropped a bunt single before scoring all the way from first base when Prince blasted an RBI-double to the right-center field fence.
The Tomcats got one back in the bottom of the fourth on two hits, but the Cardinals put the game away in the fifth with four more runs on just two hits to take a 9-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth.
Monica Moses (3-0) picked up her third win of the season after going 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on two hits. Moses surrendered just one walk and recorded four outs via strikes.
