The St. John Fisher College baseball team ended the home regular season with a 16-1 loss to Ithaca College in the final conference game of the season today at Dugan Yard.
The Cardinals fall to 30-9 overall and 15-2 in the Empire 8, while Ithaca improves to 24-14 on the season and 13-5 in the conference.
The Bombers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first as a wild pitch drove in the run.
Fisher got the run back in the bottom of the second. First baseman
Scott Eisenmenger doubled down the left field line to leadoff the frame. He later moved to third on a fly out to center field by
Nate Roethel. Eisenmenger scored the only Cardinal run of the game when
Frank Carnevale drove him in on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Ithaca reclaimed the lead in the fourth when it scored three runs on three hits, with one of the three hits being a home run from Trevor Thompson to start the inning.
The Bombers after that never looked back as they plated for more runs in the top of the fifth, seven runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
For the game, the Cardinals, tallied three doubles from
Cody Wiktorski,
Mike Roman and Eisenmenger as a team Fisher finished the day with eight hits. Eisenmenger finished the contest going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Tyler Hill picked up the win for Ithaca to improve to 5-6 on the year. Reliever
Kevin Berger took the loss for the Cardinals to fall to 1-3.
Fisher's starting pitcher
Marc Iseneker threw three innings allowing two hits, one run and struck out one.
Fisher is on the road tomorrow at RIT at 1pm in its final regular season game.
