Baseball Wins 13th Straight - Remains Undefeated In Empire 8

The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College baseball program won its 13th straight game on Wednesday, as the Cardinals collected a 23-2 win over host Houghton College.  With the win, Fisher improves to 21-6 overall and 9-0 in the Empire 8 Conference.  The Cardinals, currently ranked No. 22 in the latest national coaches poll, have scored 10 or more runs in seven of their last eight games.

Fisher took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning as sophomore Scott Eisenmenger hit his eighth home run of the season and the 16th of his career.  After Houghton scored one run in the bottom of the first, the Cardinals scored 10 straight runs to start the rout.

Eisenmenger went 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBI to lead the way.  Evan Ryan finished with three hits, three runs scored and three RBI, while Mike Roman totaled three hits and three RBI.  Senior Chris Dugan also scored three runs and added two hits and two RBI.

Jack Trotman went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Ryan Prevost scored three runs.  Jack Vivinetto chalked up three hits and scored two runs, while Joe Simmons singled twice and scored two runs.  Nate Roethel doubled in two runs, while Kyle Norton went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI. It was his first base hit at the collegiate level. Tom Kline and Frank Carnevale also scored and picked up base hits.

Freshman pitcher Jim Dawson raised his record to 6-0 on the year, allowing just two runs over six innings.  Erin Moskal, Ryan Felske and DJ Mendenhall each pitched scoreless innings in relief.

Fisher will return to action with a four-game series at home vs. Stevens Institute of Technology.  The Cardinals will host the Ducks at 1 p.m. on Saturday and at noon on Sunday.
