The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball program improved to 21-5 on the year and 3-1 in the Empire 8 Conference with two wins on the road at Elmira College.
The Cardinals, ranked No. 20 in the national coaches poll, came through with a 6-1 win in the opener before erupting for 19 hits in a 16-1 win in the nightcap. Sophomore pitcher
Lindsey Thayer earned the win in both games, allowing one hits over a combined eight innings with 18 strikeouts. Fisher returns to action on Sunday against host Stevens Institute of Technology.

The Cardinals took the lead for good on a two-run homer from
Lauren Owens, sparking a four-run second inning.
Katie Mazierski singled three times in the win, while
Danielle Ventrone went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Game Two: Fisher 16, Elmira 1 (6 innings)
Fisher pounded out a season-high 19 hits, including four each from its No. 3, 4 and 5 hitters in the lineup.

Jennifer Knaak each tallied a career-high four hits in the win. Prince doubled twice, drive in two runs and scored a career-high four runs, while Kubik scored two runs and knocked in two more. Knaak needed just a home run for the cycle and totaled a career-high five RBI.
