The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, as the Cardinals dropped a 16-9 decision to visiting College at Brockport on Tuesday at Fisher's Growney Stadium.
With the loss, Fisher falls to 2-1 on the year.
It is just the third time in third time in 13 meetings, Brockport has defeated Fisher in men's lacrosse.
Junior-transfer
Nick Papayanakos led the Cardinals with five points on three goals and two assists, while
Tim Wagner scored a career-high four goals.
Drew Brown tallied two goals, while
Matthew Condon added two assists.Â
Andrew Rosso also finished with two points on one goal and one assist.
Kevin O'Donnell was 50% (14-for-50) in face-offs.  The senior also scooped up five ground balls, while Rosso led the team with six.
Junior
Tanner Swan made 14 saves over 60 minutes.
Brockport jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Fisher got on the board with three minutes left in the first.
Fisher pulled with one goal with 11:20 left in the second quarter on Wagner's second goal of the game, making it 4-3, but Fisher would not get any closer.
Brockport led 8-5 at the half and 11-7 going into the fourth, despite two third-quarter goals from Papayanakos.
The Golden Eagles scored five of the first six goals in the fourth to put the game away.
Fisher returns to action at 4 p.m. next Tuesday and will host Rochester Institute of Technology. The Tigers (2-0) are ranked No. 3 in the latest national coaches poll.
