The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team came up short against host SUNY Geneseo on Thursday, falling 8-7 in overtime.
The Cardinals fall to 11-5 overall, while the Knights improve to 12-2 on the year.
Sierra Badger led Fisher with four goals, while adding one ground ball and draw control.
The Knights took off from the get-go, scoring five unanswered goals over the first 24 minutes.
Cori Holbrook put the Cardinals on the scoreboard with 15 seconds remaining in the opening half, but Fisher still trailed 5-1 at halftime. The Knights held a 12-6 shot advantage at the break, as well.
Fisher opened the second half with back-to-back goals -- one from
Erin Ward and another from
Lindsey Shoales -- to put the Cardinals behind by two with 19:24 remaining in the game.
Badger scored the next four goals for Fisher, including the game-tying goal with 23 seconds remaining in regulation.
Geneseo secured the win and scored the game-winning notch with 40 seconds in overtime.
Nicole Hart made three saves in goal in the loss. She falls to 8-5 overall. Shoales finished with four draw controls and three ground balls. Ward and
Kristina Lombard also added three ground balls.
Fisher wraps up its regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday when the Cardinals visit Elmira College.
