Volleyball Drops Two In Season Finale

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday at a tri-match hosted by Geneseo. Fisher posts an 11-21 overall record as the Cardinals closed out their regular season.

The Cardinals and the host Knights were evenly matched in the first set, going back and forth until both squads were tied at 22 apiece.  Fisher then took three straight points -- two errors and one kill -- to win the first set 25-22.
 
Geneseo, however, bounced right back to decisively take the second set 25-16. The Knights maintained their momentum to win the match with consecutive wins in the third set 25-11.
 
The Cardinals put up a good fight in the fourth set. Down 11-3, Fisher went on a 10-2 run to tie the set at 13 apiece. Geneseo, though, went to win it all, taking the fourth set 25-19.
 
Anna Marcy led the Cardinals with a team-best 10 kills and 11 assists with 15 digs and five blocks. Madison Karwas added nine kills and 11 digs.
 
Katie Mazierski led the defense with a team-best 16 digs and Paige Willson added five blocks.

Hiram College swept the Cardinals in straight sets 25-15, 25-10, 25-9.
 
Marcy added to her day total with two kills, 10 assists and six digs. Megan Miller tallied four kills and Willson added three.
 
Mazierski led the defense once again with 10 digs.
 
The Cardinals with a 4-4 record in conference play just miss qualifying for the Empire 8 Championship.
