Another day and another chance for the St. John Fisher College baseball program to make history. Fourth-seeded Fisher (31-10) takes on No. 7 Manchester College (27-19) at 4:30 p.m. today at the NCAA Division III Championship Mideast Regional in Marietta, OH. This afternoon's game is the championship game of the winner's bracket and a matchup between the only two undefeated teams in the eight-team, double-elimination tournament.
The winner of today's game will play again at 4 p.m. on Saturday and will need just one win to advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series in Appleton, WI. The loser of today's game will play at 12 p.m. on Saturday in an elimination game.
The Cardinals need just one more win to set a College record for victories in a season, originally set in 2010. That year, Fisher advanced to the final game in the winner's bracket as well, but lost SUNY Cortland, and eventually finished as the regional's runner-up.
Fisher is coming off a 5-2 win over No. 1 Marietta College. The Cardinals defeated the defending national champions and the nation's No. 1 ranked team behind a strong pitching performance from senior
Jason Beaumont, who scattered eight hits in the complete-game win.
