Baseball Sweeps Wildcats at Home

Senior Kevin Wing had the game-winning RBI in the first game and went 4-for-4 in the nightcap.
The St. John Fisher College baseball team improved to 18-9 on the year with a sweep of the Cazenovia College Wildcats Saturday in two games at Fisher's Dugan Yard.

Kevin Wing came through big in the sixth inning when he drove in the winning run on a triple to right center that scored Matt Klock to make the score 6-5. Marc Montesano added an insurance run in the same inning, scoring Wing on a single.

Geoff Martone earned the win in his two innings of relief that featured four strikeouts and just one hit for the Caz batters.

The Cardinals had seven players finish with multiple hits in the crushing of the Wildcats, including a 4-for-4 game for Wing. Wing finished with four RBI as did Teagen Barresi, who also added three hits. Freshman Ben Bostick also finished with three hits, contributing two RBI and two runs scored. Ross Langevin, Ryan Shaughnessy and Sean Osterman all finished the day 2-for-3 with Osterman scoring four times. Phil Pettinella also aided in the win with two hits, two runs scored and a RBI.

Jeremy Willard started on the mound and pitched five innings of three-hit ball while striking out three. In relief, Corey McAllister and Teddy Ruff pitched a combined two innings of scoreless baseball.

Fisher will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to Keuka for a rescheduled matchup that begins at 4 p.m.
