Women's Lacrosse Clinches E8 Bid With Win Over 'Wick

The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team defeated Empire 8 Conference rival Hartwick College 17-2 today at Fisher’s Growney Stadium.  With the win, Fisher improves to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the Empire 8 Conference and is guaranteed one of four spots in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.  Fisher won last year’s Empire 8 title and earned the program’s first NCAA Championship bid.

Fisher wasted little time taking care of the Hawks, jumping out to a six-goal lead, including three unassisted goals from Laurie Quackenbush (Penn Yan Academy/Penn Yan).

Quackenbush, playing in the final home game of her career, tallied four goals and one assist, while fellow senior Katie Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse) finished with two goals and one assist.

Sophomore Lauren Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse) also notched three points on two goals and one assist, with classmate Ashley Fenyn (Newark/Newark) recording one goal, and one assist.

Jill Lockwood (Clarence/Clarence) and Trish Scudder (Corning East/Beaver Dams) each scored two goals, as did freshman Danielle Whyte (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls).

Freshmen Mary Stimson (Cicero-North Syracuse/Cicero) and Courtney Clare (West Genesee/Camillus) each scored a goal en route to the lopsided victory.

Sophomore goalie Vicki Sahm (Bishop Ludden/Baldwinsville) stopped nine shots over the 60 minutes of action.

Fisher will close out the regular-season with a three-game road trip, starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday at SUNY Geneseo.
