Baseball Wins Fourth Straight With Victory Over York

The St. John Fisher College baseball team improved to 5-1 on the year with a 7-1 win over York College (PA) on Thursday.  The Cardinals, who won in their final at-bat in each of the last two games, delivered yet again in the latter part of the contest to pick up the win.

Fisher trailed 1-0 after six innings, but tied the game in the seventh and tacked on three runs in both the eighth and ninth innings.

John Quartironi went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI, while Marc Montesano also added two hits and drove in two runs.  Dave Roth finished with three RBIs and hit his fourth home run in the last three games.

Andrew Van Slyke earned the win in relief.  Van Slyke pitched the final three innings and allowed just one hit to earn his first victory of the year.

Starter Greg McKeown allowed just one run over six innings and struck out five, but received a no-decision.

Fisher will play its final game in Florida on Friday against Cornell College of Indiana
