The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team gave Ithaca College all it could handle on Friday in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Championship, but it wasn't enough, as the Bombers, ranked fifth nationally, squeeked out a 10-8 win over the visiting Cardinals on Friday.  Fisher, the No. 4 seed in the championship, trailed 8-7 going into the fourth quarter, but never netted the equalizer.  Freshman Chris Schmidt led the Cardinals with four goals, while classmate Dave Malone added two goals and two assists.  Senior goalie Brian Cummings was outstanding between the pipes and finished with 19 saves.

Fisher will find out on Monday, May 5th, if it has been selected to participate in the ECAC Upstate Championship for the second straight year.
