The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team battled back to defeat host SUNY Oneonta 14-13 in sudden-death overtime on Saturday.
Fisher trailed 6-3 at halftime, but scored the first six goals of the second half to take a 9-6 lead. The Red Dragons, however, answered Fisher’s run scoring six of the next seven goals.
Oneonta enjoyed a two-goal lead with just over two minutes left, but Fisher’s
Jen Springett (Newark/Newark) forced overtime scoring two goals in the last 2:19, including a free-position-goal with 27 seconds left in regulation.
After two scoreless overtimes,
Springett passed the ball to teammate
Katie Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse), who went to goal all alone and scored to end the game 35 seconds into the third extra period

Springett finished with four goals and one assist, while freshman
Lauren Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse) scored a career-high four goals.
Haley Koperski (Brighton/Rochester) and
Katie Glavin each finished with three points on two goals and one assist. Junior
Laurie Quackenbush (Penn Yan Academy/Penn Yan) tallied a team-high seven ground balls, while assisting on two goals.
Freshman midfielder
Ashley Fenyn (Newark/Newark) finished with one goal, one assist and a career-high six draw controls. Classmate
Jillian Lockwood (Clarence/Clarence) finished with a goal, while fellow freshman
Trish Scudder (Corning East/Beaver Dams) picked up an assist.
Caitlin Navor (Brighton/Rochester) registered six ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls. Sophomore goalie
Danielle Murphy (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) stopped eight shots in the first half, while freshman goalie
Vicky Sahm (Bishop Ludden/Baldwinsville) tallied eight saves over the game’s final 36 minutes.
The Cardinals (3-2) will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and will host SUNY Geneseo.
