Glavin Girls Lead Fisher To OT-Victory Over Brockport

Katie Glavin (left) and Lauren Glavin (right) scored five of Fisher's 12 goals on Saturday.
The St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team outlasted visiting SUNY Brockport through four overtimes and defeated the Golden Eagles 12-11 to improve to 2-1 on Saturday, thanks in part to a strong performance from the Glavin sisters.

The Cardinals, who trailed by three goals early in the second half, rallied behind Katie Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse), who scored three consecutive goals, including a leaping one-timer, that tied the game at 9 with ten minutes to play.  Fisher took the lead on a goal from Laurie Quackenbush (Penn Yan Academy/Penn Yan) with just over two minutes to play, but Brockport rallied to tie the game at 10 with just 43 seconds remaining in regulation.

After a scoreless first overtime, the Cardinals came to life just 13 seconds into the second overtime, and took an 11-10 lead on a goal by senior Haley Koperski (Brighton/Rochester).  Brockport, however, answered quickly, tying the game just 16 seconds later.

Following another scoreless overtime period, freshman Lauren Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse), Katie’s younger sister, ended the game one minute into the fourth overtime with her third goal of the year.

Over their last four years, the Fisher-Brockport game has been decided by a total of five goals.  Last year, Fisher defeated Brockport 12-11 on a game-winning goal from Katie Glavin with eight seconds left in regulation.
