YEAR-BY-YEAR POSTSEASON AWARDS
Tori Bothner was hired to guide the Fisher field hockey team in the summer of 2014 and joined Fisher with a plethora of interscholastic coaching experience in the Monroe County area the past decades including working with athletes from Hilton, Gates-Chili, East Rochester, Webster Schroeder and Nazareth College.Â
The Cardinals overcame all challenges in the spring of 2021 to win their second Empire 8 Championship as Bothner was named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year for the second time in as many seasons. Under her guidance, Fisher posted a perfect 6-0 record and allowed just two goals all season. The team led the conference in nearly every statistical category and had six players named All-Conference at the conclusion of the season.
Coming off 15 wins following the 2018 season, Bothner, who was named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year following the 2019 season, once again had the Cardinals in the national conversation as Fisher won the Empire 8 Regular Season title after going 15-5 overall and 7-0 in conference play. The Cardinals were an offensive force in 2019 as they led the conference in goals, shots, shots on goal, assists and points. The team set numerous program records including home wins in a season (10), points in a game (30) and total points in a season with 188. Bothner had seven players named All-Conference including Lindsay Scott who was named Player of the Year. The team also garnered three All-Region honorees and two All-American selections in Scott and Bre Socker
The 2018 season was another successful campaign under Bothner who guided the Cardinals to their third appearance in the Empire 8 title game in the last four years. After going 14-4 during the regular season and claiming the second overall seed, Fisher dispatched of Stevens in the semifinal round before taking on nationally-ranked Washington and Jefferson in the championship tilt. Under Bothner's direction, Fisher led the Empire 8 in scoring, shots and scoring margin while its 1.30 goals allowed on average was the third lowest of any conference institution. Bothner's team had six players honored by the Empire 8, two more were named All-Region while senior Lauren Fazio would go on to be named All-American at the conclusion of the season.Â
In 2017, Bothner led the Cardinals to a 15-4 overall mark including a sixth consecutive appearance in the Empire 8 Championship. Fisher led the conference in numerous categories including goals scored (63), shots (405), scoring average (3.316) and save percentage (.822). Under Bothner's guidance, the Cardinals had six players honored by the Empire 8 at the conclusion of the season including Emily Markarian who was named the Offensive Player of the Year and Socker who was tabbed the conference's Rookie of the Year. Three more would earn All-Region honors by the NFHCA. Bothner was also selected to coach the Division III Senior Select Game in Louisville, Ken.
 In 2016, Bothner led the team to its most successful campaign in program history. She coached the team to a school record 19 wins, backed by an 18-game winning streak that included a win over No. 9 University of Rochester. In post season action, Bothner helped earn the program's first ever Empire 8 Championship title as well as its first ever bid to the NCAA Championship. She found more success in the NCAAs as the team beat Rhodes College in the first round, before bowing out to Babson College in the Sweet 16. At the conclusion of the season, Bothner received plenty of recognition including North Atlantic Region Coach of the Year honors and ECAC North Atlantic Coach of the Year honors. Her and her assistants were named the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year as well.
During the 2015 season, Bothner, the program's career leader in wins, led the Cardinals to an overall season record of 12-6, and 6-2 in conference action.
In 2014, she coached Fisher to a 12-9 record including seven wins against Empire 8 competition. The Cardinals earned a spot in the Empire 8 title game and would have six players earn All-Conference accolades including Markarian who was selected as the Empire 8's Rookie of the Year.
The East Rochester native is Level II certified through the USA Field Hockey Coaching Association Program and she coaches for the Under 19 Finger Lakes Field Hockey Club team.
Bothner holds a Bachelor's degree in Health and Sport Studies from Miami University (Ohio), a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport, and a Master's Degree in Education (MSEd) from SUNY Brockport.
As a player, she was a two-time Mid-American Conference selection at Division I Miami University and is among the top 10 all-time in career goals and points.
She resides in Rochester with her husband Peter and three daughters, Hannah, Maegan, and Savannah.
