Megan Letta (Rochester/Hilton) of the St. John Fisher College women's soccer team has been named the College's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 3, 2019. The freshman scored the game-winning goal in the Cardinals's 2-1 win at Nazareth on Saturday that made Fisher the Empire 8 Regular Season Champions and the No. 1 Seed in this week's conference tournament.
In the 87th minute with the game tied at one, the Cardinals took a shot on goal that was stopped. Letta, who was sprinting towards the net, picked up the rebound and sent the ball into the open net to give Fisher its first lead of the day. The goal was the Rochester native's fifth of the season, which is tied for most on the team this year. Heading into the postseason, the rookie leads the Cardinals with 13 points.
Fisher heads into the Empire 8 Championship as the top seed for the first time in program history. First-year head coach Molly Romano's squad will face No. 4 Utica at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Growney Stadium.
