St. John Fisher College’s Nick Papayanakos of the men’s lacrosse team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 20th, 2016.
Fisher went 1-1 on the week, losing to Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday, while winning at SUNY Oswego on Saturday. The Cardinals are now 3-2 on the season.
Papayanakos scored one goal in the RIT game, but lit up the scoresheet in the Oswego game. After scoring three goals in the first half, he scored his fourth goal of the game with 52.2 seconds left in regulation to snap a 9-9 tie with the 30-second shot-clock nearly at zero to get the Cardinals the 10-9 win. He tallied a team-leading four goals, in the 10-9 win, and also notched one assist and picked up five ground balls.
Fisher returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when it travels to take on host SUNY Geneseo.
