St. John Fisher College’s Mary Kate Cusack of the women’s basketball team has been selected as the College’s Female Athlete of Week for the week ending February 7th, 2016.
The Cardinals sealed three conference victories this weekend behind Cusack’s performance, also earning her Empire 8 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. She averaged 13.0 points, 7.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals, while committing just six turnovers.
Her best performance of the week came on Monday against Utica College, as the senior tallied 24 points and 10 assists, marking her first career double-double.
In the win over Nazareth College on Saturday, she posted nine points, five steals, and four assists. The game was back-and forth in the final period, until Cusack hit a 3-pointer to give the Cardinals the lead for good with just over a minute to go.
After this week, Fisher improves to 17-3 overall and 10-1 in the Empire 8. The Cardinals return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday when they take on Utica College on the road.
