PITTSFORD, N.Y., May 18, 2015 — Paige Willson (Griffith Institute/East Concord) of the women's track and field team has been selected as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 17.
After finishing in third place in last year's shot put event at the ECAC Championship, the senior won the title on Friday, trumping her opponent in the tiebreaker with a throw of 13.40 meters.
Willson has demonstrated success at shot put throughout the year, also winning the event at the NYSCTC Outdoor Championship, Cardinal Classic and Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Willson, along with classmate Taylor Youngkrans (hammer), move onto the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship this weekend at host St. Lawrence University. They are the first representatives of Fisher's women's track and field program at the national tournament.
