PITTSFORD, N.Y., February 9, 2015 — St. John Fisher College’s Sydney Bloomstein (Millbury Memorial/Millbury, MA) of the women’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 8, 2015.

The senior co-captain recorded 13 points and matched her career-high of three blocks as Fisher cruised to a 79-38 victory over visiting Elmira College on Friday. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 15-5 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Bloomstein has recorded consistent numbers throughout the season. Most notably, she leads the Cardinals in rebounds (6.4 per game), minutes (29.5 per game) and blocked shots (0.8 per game), while averaging 8.8 points per game.

For her career, she has started in 94 of a possible 98 games and has tallied 797 points and 452 rebounds.

Fisher takes on Houghton College at 6 p.m. Friday and Nazareth College at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Cardinals’ final weekend of home contests.
