St. John Fisher College’s Jamie Alloco (Our Lady of Mercy/Rochester) of the women’s soccer team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 5, 2014.
The junior recorded a hat-trick as Fisher defeated host Utica College 4-1 on Saturday. The three goals included her first goal of the year.
It was the Cardinals’ first win in the Empire 8 on the year as Fisher moves to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Alloco opened the scoring in the 35th minute to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. After Utica tied up the score at 1-1 in the 63rd minute, the Rochester native tallied her second goal of the day just a minute later, finding the top right corner of the net from 20 yards out in what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Her third goal came in the 83rd minute, this time from 17 yards out.
Allison Mooney, Taryn Guinta, Carly Finn and Molly Beaton all recorded assists on the hat-trick. With the three goals, Alloco, alongside Guinta, now leads Fisher in scoring.
Fisher continues Empire 8 play at 1 p.m. Saturday, taking on host Alfred University.
