St. John Fisher College’s Sean Osterman (Pittsford Sutherland/Pittsford) of the baseball has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 12, 2013.
In a 2-1 week for the Cardinals, Osterman hit .545 (6-for-11) at the dish with four RBI, four runs scored, a double, a grand slam and a stolen base. He slugged .909 for the week.
On Monday Fisher traveled to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford where it fell 7-6 in extra innings. Osterman went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base.
The Cardinals then traveled to Purchase College as the No. 1 seed in the ECAC Metro Championship held on Sunday. Fisher took care of business to win the Championship, defeating No. 4 Rutgers-Camden 6-0 in game one. The senior went 2-for-4 in the contest with a run scored.
Osterman exploded in the Championship game against sixth-seeded Purchase College. The Cardinals routed the Panthers 17-4 as Osterman went 3-for-5, driving in four runs and scoring twice. Fisher put up a six spot in the second inning, with Osterman hitting a grand slam with two outs. The Pittsford native added a double to his day in the sixth inning.
Fisher ends the season with a 28-14 record and winners of the ECAC Metro Championship.
