St. John Fisher College’s Christopher Wehner (Cooperstown/Hartwick) of the men’s track and field team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 10, 2013.

On Saturday, the Cardinals traveled to Clinton, NY for the Hamilton Invite.  Wehner reached the 60-meter hurdles final after posting a top time of 8.69 seconds in the preliminary heat.  The sophomore continued his dominance in the event’s final, as he cut .06 seconds off his time to take home first place.

The finish was a career-best for Wehner, marking the first time he has placed first in any event during his collegiate career.

Wehner set the College record in the 60-meter hurdles earlier this season, when he placed second at the Empire 8 Championship.  Not only did his 8.55 second finish set a Fisher record, but the time qualified for the ECAC Championships which will be held on March 1st in New York City.

The Cardinals will next compete at the RIT Tiger Classic on Friday afternoon at the Gordon Field House.
