St. John Fisher College’s Jason Norsen (Frontier/Hamburg) of the men’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 30, 2012.
This week, the Cardinals hosted the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa Tournament, where they finished in third place after going 1-1. On Saturday, Fisher fell to Baruch College 67-63 in the tournament’s opening round with Norsen scoring 19 points and blocking six shot attempts. The next day, the Cardinals defeated Juniata College 65-54 and Norsen kept the blocks coming, this time swatting away seven shots while scoring a game-high 16 points. He completed the double-double with 12 rebounds.
With 46 blocks through 11 games, Norsen leads the nation with an average of 4.2 blocks per game. The senior is also averaging 16.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. With his 178 career blocks, Norsen sits as the College’s all-time leader in the category.
The Cardinals (7-4, 2-0 E8) will return to action on Friday when they travel to Utica College to play the Pioneers in an 8 p.m. contest. The next day, Fisher will play at Ithaca College at 4 p.m.
