St. John Fisher University Athletics

St. John Fisher College’s Evan Magnussen (Geneseo/Geneseo) of the men’s cross country team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 16, 2012. 

On Saturday, Magnussen was the Cardinals best finisher at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational, held at Genesee Valley Park.  Magnussen crossed the finish in 109^th place out of 333 runners with a time of 27:59.1.  The finish shattered Magnussen’s personal record, which was 29:13.

The Geneseo native has seen many strong finishes earlier in the season as well.  At the Houghton Short Course Invitational, Magnussen helped the Cardinals to third place as he finished in 10^th position for the 5k race. In Fisher’s first contest of the year, where it placed seventh, Magnussen came in at a time of 30:13 for 68th place.

Fisher will next race at the Geneseo Invitational on September 29^th.  The event will be hosted at Letchworth State Park
