St. John Fisher College’s Erin Ward (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville) of the women’s lacrosse team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 25, 2012.

In a 1-1 week for the Cardinals, the freshman recorded 10 points including an outstanding eight-point effort in Fisher’s 18-14 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham on Saturday.  In that game, Ward recorded a career-high seven goals and one assist, as she helped lead the Cardinals (3-3) to their third victory of the season.

The rookie starter went a perfect 2-for-2 from the free position arc, while also causing two turnovers in the game.  In Friday’s 20-13 loss to SUNY Oneonta, Ward also added two more points, this time on one goal and one assist.

Ward currently ranks third on the team in points as she has totaled 21 in six games played.  The attacker out of C.W. Baker currently has 15 goals and six assists, with the latter leading the team.

Fisher will return to action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday when it hosts the William Smith College Herons.
