Jason Norsen of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 30, 2011.

Norsen scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half to lead Fisher to a 67-55 win over host Elmira College on Friday night.  With the win, Fisher improves to 11-7 overall and 7-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.

The sophomore center gave Fisher a 31-24 lead at intermission, thanks to his 10-foot jumper at the buzzer.  He shot 5-for-8 from the floor and led the Cardinals on the night with eight rebounds and three assists.

Norsen missed the first six games of the season with an ankle injury. During that time, the Cardinals went 1-5. Since he returned to the starting lineup, Fisher has gone 10-2.

In the 12 games he’s played in, he’s averaging 9.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots per game.

Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Alfred University.
